A warm gentle breeze caresses its way through the Sept bringing with it the pretty scents of spring. Blooming flowers and trees brighten the landscape giving the bleak surroundings and skeletal trees a beautiful bright accent as if defying winter to tighten its frigid grasp once more. The days since the destruction of that possessed abomination had been full of activity the sight of the battle filled in with as many layers of concrete and other materials that could be found. Cleansed repeatedly with layers of offerings and fetishes, voluntary given to encourage the eventual rebirth and healing of the wound that had festered for so long. As time had passed several of the rescued kin had been moved to their old homes or fully integrated into the sept while many more continued the search with the aid of different members of the sept. Many metis had been born to the Sept, fruits born from the horrors visited on many of the women some who survived thanks to the hard works and efforts of the medical teams...though many did not. The sept was beginning to face a growing problem of space and food though the warmer weather had caused many to spread out doors to build temporary pavilions under the shelter of the guardian forest. This provided temporary relief to the crowded and limited space they had had to endure. Careful planning was leading to the gradual construction of village clusters, living areas ranging from rustic lodges for families to a dorm set up allowing for many of the single kinfolk and garou to bunk efficiently. The main lodge was finally finished, no more winters outside around a bonfire as it was finally moved within the confines of the lodge. The large kitchen was still in the process of being built so the kitchen yurt was still having to take the major brunt of feeding the several hundred people there.
Spring fever was in the air combined with the relief from being freed from the threat of the haunting as well as confining quarters resulted in people being of high spirits. A feeling of exhilaration running rampant throughout the place. This feeling of wanton happiness resulted in minor well meant pranks, exuberant crafting, spontaneous bonfire parties and couples meeting and sneaking off into the night. Oh yes friends, spring was fully here and everyone was intent on enjoying it with an almost reckless abandon. Fueled by the Fenrir tendency to throw themselves into play just as hard as they did their work other tribes would find this example hard to not follow instead adapting it to their own interests before diving headlong in themselves. The Sept was finding itself in the midst of an explosion of building. Hammers, saws, and drills could be heard amongst laughing and carrying on as everyone young and old made an effort to get homes and lodges built in almost record speed. Even those that did not have the crafts and skills could be seen working alongside skilled companions that helped them readily. The mood of the Sept was on a heady infectious high that carried everyone throughout a productive day into a celebration of what it was to be Gaian that resulted in most everyone falling laughing but tired into bed only to rise eagerly to do so again.
Gradually boredom was becoming prevalent but with the growing warm temperatures it allowed people a great chance to explore the river and the surrounding mountains all of which had multiple access points to miles of trails spread across several thousand acres of National Forest, all of which they had free access to. This access came with their status as a rehabilitation facility. Of course this status wasn't just a lazy title. Today hailed the first of their new arrivals as several wolf pups were being transferred to their facility from a short term care shelter. They had been found starving when their mother had been murdered by a poacher. Sadly though they had not adjusted to the facility and were continuing to refuse to eat. With Sanctuary being relatively new it had taken a few weeks for the shelter to realize that they were available to take on the unfortunate pups. With the discovery of Sanctuary these pups were now being transferred as well as a young female mountain lion that had had to have emergency surgery. She had been picked up by a forest ranger who had found her shot multiple times and left cruelly to die. With all other facilities full or unavailable to take anyone because of the economy she was also being shipped to Sanctuary now that her condition was stable.
A phone rings, a pretty lilting ring tone that doesn't suit the 6' tall well built woman that answers it. Her skin is a rich olive color that gives her the appearance of having a perpetual tan. Dark red hair with golden highlights is braided back from her face to flow in luxurious waves to her hips. Gold flecked emerald eyes glance to the table as she answers...then quiets to listen intently. She tilts her head, a shaft of sunlight catching her cheek revealing four thin white scars on her face running from the left side of her hair line at an angle to the edge of her left eye, left part of her nose, the left edge of her lip, and at her chin below.
"Alright, don't worry about it. If you like you can deliver them this afternoon we have the space to do so," Deunan's voice stays warm and comforting as if trying to sooth the speaker. Her head shakes, bringing a wry smile to her lips as she notes the gesture to her unseen speaker, "No we won't need any supplies just make sure you bring all the pap....Yes thats correct. We'll see you at 2 then." She closes the phone an unreadable expression in her eyes as she considers the implications.
Seems the Septs first rescues were arriving signaling the beginning of more serious tasks. Or at least 'serious tasks' that the public could actually know about. She exits her yurt with a smile seeking out the people that would need to be notified.
